安德魯?羅伯茨（Andrew Roberts），英國皇家文學學會和皇家藝術學會會員，傑出的傳記作家和歷史學家，著有《索爾茲伯裏：維多利亞女王時代的泰坦》（獲1999年沃爾夫森歷史獎）、《戰爭風雲：第二次世界大戰新史》等諸多廣受讚譽的著作，他還是諸多英國報紙的撰稿人。為撰寫本書，他先後走訪了位於俄羅斯、白俄羅斯、以色列、比利時、意大利、捷克、奧地利、德國、法國的拿破崙戰場（60處中的53處），並去聖赫勒拿島調研。他關於拿破崙的三集電視短劇也在BBC2台放映。
